The game

An open world of cities, lords and roaming bandits. When armies meet, the map gives way to the battlefield, and every soldier fights it out.

Command every soldier

Real-time battles with thousands a side. Infantry, archers and cavalry in squads and formations: charge, hold, wheel round a flank. Sieges with walls, gates and towers to storm or to hold.

A realm that lives without you

Four kingdoms make war and peace on their own. Lords hunt their enemies and besiege cities, borders shift, merchants travel the roads and bandits prey on them, by day and by night.

Rise to the throne

Win renown and the crown raises you: knight, lord of a city, count, marshal of the realm. With enough nobles behind you, claim the throne, and the wars are yours to make.

A story, or a sandbox

Follow the story of a free company caught in a war that splits the realm in two, or start in free play: any kingdom, no main quest, your own way.

Rule, trade, and found a line

Set taxes and raise buildings in the cities you hold. Trade between markets, send out caravans, buy workshops. Court a lady, marry, and raise an heir to carry on if you fall.

Play together

Up to four players in one world, as allies or rivals, each commanding their own troops in real time. Host a game and friends join with a six-letter code: no ports to open, no Steam account needed.

Questions

How do I get the game after paying?

The download starts from the page you're taken to straight after paying. If you lose it, or want a newer version, enter the email you bought with on the download page.

How do updates arrive?

Through the game's launcher: start Crown & Banner and it fetches the newest version before you play. Your saved games are kept separately, so they carry over.

How does multiplayer work?

One player hosts and gets a six-letter code; friends type it in and join. Open games also show in everyone's server browser. Games on your own network find each other on their own. Nobody needs to open ports on their router or have a Steam account.

Is it on Steam?

Not yet. For now, this website is the place to buy it.

Does it run on Mac or Linux?

Windows only for now.
